Who is Nico?

- A father, a student and somehow also a professional Wakeboarder at the same time.

Let's get one thing out of the way: yes, Nico has the greatest smile ever. Now let's get down to business and ask him some hard hitting questions:

Nico, how do you actually manage being a father to 2 adorable kids, a student and a professional Wakeboarder all at the same time?

That's a good question. It's one I try to answer again each new day. Basically I'm a very motivated person. I try to get a hold of all the loose ends and then I just start. I actually repeat the phrase "doing is better than perfect" quite a bit. What I mean by that is to not overthink how to perfectly manage everything but to simply start and then just do your best along the way.

How do you start Wakeboarding?

Google your nearest station, get in your car and try it out. Easy.

Are you raising the next generation of super-Wakeboarders and how can I join?

Unfortunately wakeboarding is not a well organized sport. That's why it's super important our local communities are highly motivated and that people help each other out (especially the newbies). When it comes to my kids, I'm not imposing on them what to do. I want to simply support them with all my heart if they find something they love doing. If it's wakeboarding: perfect. And if it's football or athletics I wouldn't dream of interfering.

If you could develop your own product, what would it be and how would it look?

When it comes to actual physical products, I've been fortunate enough to have been involved in some product developments and I have been able to fulfill quite a few dreams of mine already. I really want to create a learning platform for wakeboarding...and also my own bar. I'm really looking forward to doing that together!

It's the year 2040. Can we still expect to see you on the water or do you have other priorities?

For sure I'll still be on the water. It's left to be seen if I'll still be able to hold my own against all those 18 year olds. However, what I'm looking forward to is surfing, that's something you can be competitive in even when you're older.

(Well, it looks like Nico's competitive spirit isn't going anywhere soon)
